Enterprise Week

We've had an amazing enrichment week learning all about jobs, business and enterprise.
Monday
On Monday morning, we were joined by Caroline, Sean, John, Kate and Anne who told us all about their jobs in geology, construction, energy, architecture and hospitality. It was great to hear all about the work they do. The children (and adults!) enjoyed asking them lots of questions. During the afternoon, Darren, a local chef, joined us to talk about his training and experience working in the hospitality industry. He carried out a live cooking demonstration and taught us how to make delicious macaroni cheese!
Tuesday
On Tuesday, we were joined by Sarah, Sadie, Sharon, Marcus, Zoe and Adam, who told us about their businesses in mosaic art, floristry, carpentry, graphic design, business coaching and IT.
Wednesday
On Wednesday morning, the whole school gathered in the village hall to complete a carousel of activities relating to money. They explored jobs and salaries, spending and saving, wants vs needs, handling money and giving change.
Thursday
On Thursday, we held our annual Farmers' Market. We are delighted to have raised £450 this year, all of which we are donating to Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust. The children put so much time and effort into designing, making, sourcing and selling such a wonderful selection of cakes, bakes, crafts, plants and fresh produce. They also had lots of hands-on experience pricing, handling money and giving change. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all the families and friends of our school who supported this year's event.
Friday
What a brilliant way to end out Enterprise Week! The whole school took a trip to Diss to explore a variety of shops and businesses. We'd like to say a special thank you to The Corn Hall and The Thatcher's Needle who took time out of their busy days to explain to us how their business works and for answering all the children's questions. The children also enjoyed exploring the high street and market.
