  • 'Locals' art project with Katy Bentall

    In February 2020, we welcomed back Katy Bentall following the previous year's success of her project 'Faces'. This year, we focussed on what it means to be local. The children worked in mixed ages and created their own pop-up exhibition of their artwork in the village hall.

    On the final day of the week the children met a nurse, a carer and a pastor. They had a go at putting bandages on each other and asked lots of interesting questions to support their learning.

  • World of Work Week day 4

    World of Work Week day 4 - The whole school got on a bus and went to Diss. Whilst there we split up into groups and the KS2 children went to The Corn Hall to do a theatre and arts workshop. The younger children visited Diss Fit Club and learnt about what it is like to work in a gym. Next they went to the fire station and had a go at using the fire hose. After this they walked to Diss Publishing bookshop to listen to some stories. They then had a walk up the high street learning about different shops and the jobs within them, had a look inside the church and then went to Morrisons to find about about the different jobs that people do within a supermarket. Back at school some puppies came in to visit and the children learnt about the jobs involved in caring for them. What a busy day!

  • World of Work Week day 3

    World of Work week day 3- On Wednesday the younger children visited Hartismere Place residential home. They met some of the lovely residents, had a tour of the home, learnt about the role of carers and became Dementia Friends. The older children had a visit from a businessman working for sushi restaurants (tasted some delicious sushi) and had a visit from an events manager.

  • World of Work Week Day 2

    World of Work Week day 2- today's visitors included: some people from Natwest working with the children on money and banking, an events manager, a careers advisor, a health and fitness worker and an ambulance crew. What an exciting day! The children have had so many interesting experiences already this week and we have heard lots of them having discussions about jobs that they might like to do when they are older.
